Briefly Breathless

Briefly Breathless

In Briefly Breathless, seven performers explore polar plunges in Lake Michigan through devised movement.

We started with these core questions:

1. People actually jump in the lake in the middle of winter. Really?

2. How can we put something "impossible" on stage (like a frozen lake dip)?

3. What do we lose by avoiding discomfort?

4. How can we empower ourselves to be bold and just dive in?

This piece celebrates the individual risks we take and the communities we build when we go beyond what we think possible.

The performance runs 40 minutes.

WONDROUS STRANGE

Our name comes from Hamlet. Referring to the ghost of Hamlet's father, Horatio says, "O day and night, but this is wondrous strange." This is an essential moment in Western theatre: a ghost haunts Hamlet, makes him swear revenge, and sets the events of the play in motion. At once magical, disorienting, and thrilling, it's everything theatre should be.

Wondrous Strange seeks to explore theatre that experiments with space, form, and storytelling. We will ask questions without having the answers . We love theatre that electrifies. We want our theatre wild, wondrous, and strange.
